Large-format tile installation
24 x 24, 24 x 48 and larger porcelain tile for open floor plans, installed flat and even across Southwest Florida.

Fewer grout lines, less room for error
Large tiles make a room feel wider and cleaner, but they need a flatter surface than small tile. Any dip or hump in the slab shows up as an uneven edge between neighboring tiles, called lippage.
That's why large-format work starts with the slab, not the tile. It's checked with a straightedge, high spots are ground down and low spots are filled with leveling compound.
Set for flatness
Tiles are back-buttered as well as set in a troweled bed, so the whole tile is supported. A tile leveling system holds neighboring edges flush while the mortar cures.
Long rectangular tiles are offset by a third rather than half. Most long tiles have a slight bow in the middle, and a half offset puts the high center of one tile next to the low end of the next.

Large-format tile questions
Call 239-710-2315 for anything specific to your home.
What counts as large-format tile?
Generally any tile with at least one side 15 inches or longer. Common sizes in Southwest Florida homes are 24 x 24, 12 x 24 and 24 x 48 inches.
Why does my large tile floor have uneven edges?
Uneven edges, or lippage, usually come from a slab that wasn't flat enough, incomplete mortar coverage, or long tiles set at a half offset. All three are addressed before and during installation.
Do I need to level my slab?
Most slabs need some correction for large-format tile. How much is determined at the measure with a straightedge check.
